Hi all,
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V7010. Suse 9.3 Pro patched with YOU.(Grub dual boot with WinXP Pro) Wired nic (Broadcom BCM4401) up and running without problem. So no problems of lan or dhcpd or named at all. Wireless nic is recognized by yast as being an Intersil ISL3886[Prism Javelin/Prism Xbow] wich is correct. Tail -f /var/log/messages say: ...... ...... Sep 28 15:41:12 linux kernel: eth1: could not upload firmware ('isl3886') Sep 28 15:41:12 linux kernel: eth1: islpci_reset: failure Sep 28 15:41:12 linux dhcpcd[13526]: dhcpStart: ioctl SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such file or directory Sep 28 15:41:17 linux udevd[2203]: move seq 1089 with timeout 10 to exec queue Sep 28 15:41:17 linux kernel: eth1: resetting device... Sep 28 15:41:17 linux kernel: eth1: uploading firmware... Sep 28 15:41:17 linux udevd[2203]: move seq 1090 with timeout 10 to exec queue Sep 28 15:41:17 linux kernel: prism54: request_firmware() failed for 'isl3886' Sep 28 15:41:17 linux kernel: eth1: could not upload firmware ('isl3886') Sep 28 15:41:17 linux kernel: eth1: islpci_reset: failure ..... ..... I tried to configure the card with every module available in Yast (orinoco and similars) without success. I tried to configure it with ndiswrapper loading the module at boot time. The only difference I saw was that with WinXP drivers (recognized and loaded by ndiswrapper) iwconfig reports a Link Quality of 100 but that's all. No way to get it working. I don't think it's a matter of wlan misconfiguration (wep ESSID or others radio-level related problems). From /var/log/messages looks like the kernel is not able to upload firmware to eth1. Any suggestions? Thanks and regards. |

> Any suggestions? > Thanks and regards. Were you doing this with the wired nic still active? Try as root: ifdown eth0 ifdown wlan0 ( or eth1 depending on how you have it configured ) ifup eth1 ( or wlan0 ) The two will not work together. HTH -- Mark Twixt hill and high water N.
