Hello,
I've just installed SUSE 9.3, the Wi-Fi Linksys WMP54G PCI recognized and configured (I think so :-). The problem is that I can ping my router but cannot connect Internet (of course under XP all works fine). Something wrong with configuration? Thanks for help, Y.B. |

I have exactly the same problem with a Hawking router, and same problem even without the router. I can ping the router (or the ISP, with no router), but cannot connect to internet. I am using Earthlink DSL, and I don't think the DHCP client in 9.3 works right for DSL. Note the weasel-words in the book about setting up the network with DSL- the book says "do it manually" and then becomes pretty unhelpful for a newbie. There is a wonderful "cool solutions" article "SUSE Router How To" that suggests trying the command /sbin/route -n, which returns a bunch of stuff. In my case, it says my gateway is 192.168.99.99, which is absolutely wrong- and it doesn't ping. I suggest looking at that article, and going to the Console and trying /sbin/route, and taking it from there. So, in my case I will risk my marriage again and do what the book says, and try a manual setup. BTW, the 3 windows PCs (both W96/2 and XP) and 1 Mac on the same network work fine. I had 9.3 running with SBC DSL after another prolonged bout with setup, so it is possible. Unfortunately I didn't take notes during that bout. Clueless2_in_CT |
