Hi all,
I am using Suse 9.3 ( german version ) with the latest patches installed. My network is made up by a D-Link Router with DHCP Service running. Everythink worked fine all the time. But now I am having the following problen: If I set my network card to " get IP adress automaticcally " it gets the number 192.168.2.100 which does not correspond to the IP numbers issued by the router ( 192.168.0.100 ). The router in turn sees the computer and has assigned the adress 192.168.0.100 to it. As a consequence of this mess the PC cannot reach the router interface but still has got access to the internet. If I assign a static IP adress to the PC ( e.g. 192.168.0.100 ) the router can be acessed but the internet acess fails. My question is: does anybody have an idea how the IP 192.168.2.100 gets assigned to teh system ? ( I used to have a 2nd router in the network which operated at the number 192.168.2.1. But this router is not connected to the network for quite a while. So I suspect that there may be any setting file on my PC from where the number 192.168.2.100 is retored. ) How can I get ride of theis number. What are the setting files that need to be checked ? Does anybody can give me advice how to fix the problem ? Thanks in advance. Christian PS: Other PCs in the network do behave normally. => I do not think that the trouble is caused by the router ) |

I haven't seen the answer to my question: "Did you let DCHP client during network card installation to change your network configuration; DNS servers, IP address, default gateway?" It seems to be something like that. -- Regards, Rajko. |
