Default 9.3 pro and clusters possible?

Do you have to have the Enterprise version to cluster a couple of PCs
together for a MythTV setup?

Has anyone done it?

Is there a howto that is SuSE oriented?

Thanks in advance,

Cliffer

There is no Enterprise edition of Suse Pro.

What exactly do you want to do, record and stream on one ?

Of course not, there are Enterprise versions (commercial big sites) and Pro
(end user hackers like me) versions. Perhaps a difference in syntax between
UK and US versions of English is at work here. (Although my friends in the
UK say there is only English...LOL!) No seriously, In some of the things I
read from my googling, I got the impression there were packages that one had
to have to do true clustering. I recall reading something referencing a 7.x
(I think) verison that the clsutering packages had been removed as they were
obsolete. The document I read was for an Enterprise version, again I think
because it's been several weeks since I read it. I could be crossing a
circuit in my head.

That would be one thing I would like to do, but that can be done with
multiple backends right? I was trying to ascertain if there were things like
transcoding that could be split over two machines with clustering. Sort of
a two machines do the job in two-thirds the time concept. Obviously the
machines would need to have similar performance characteristics. So can you
split transcoding and if so, Are there additional packages that would be
required for this? If so, which ones? As your weekend is starting, have a
great one!

Thanks in advance Mark

I think it was The capital "E" that threw me a bit there, I thought you
might be referring to SLES.

Weekend!!! whats a weekend :-)

It is possible to do what you want, sort of a distributed processing
like seti or even combining computers into a local supercomputer but it
more depends on the actual application that you would be running, the
problem is if the application is single thread then it cannot be split
into workable units to be passed to other machines then re-assembled
after they have been processed.

Here is a good page on beowolf that might give you some ideas, there are
more links at the bottom of the page.
