Hi,
I'm using OpenSuse 10.2 alpha 4 and it's been runing fine for a while, this morning I booted it up and the mouse has begun acting very strangely. Even the slightest movement results in several minutes of activity where windows are opened and closed, files opened applications started and other weird behaviour occurs. It's like the slightest movement triggers a stream of random mouse commands including clicks. I've tried replacing my usb mouse with a ps/2 one and rebooting and the same porblem occurs. So I guess it's not a problem with the usb port or interference on the mouse cable. I've also rebooted without the mouse and then everything works fine. If I wait for activity to die down with the mouse in, I can also work fine from the keyboard. As far as I know nothing has changed. I haven't installed any new software or run any updates. The only thing I can think of is some weird control key combination I've pressed accidentally but I don't know what. Please help I'm trying to get suse accepted as a dekstop OS here at work and having to tell people I can't work isn't helping my cause. Thanks Mark |

Often times this happens when switching from one machine to another using a KVM switch. I usually dumb down my mouse support to imps (psmouse.proto=imps on the kernel boot line) across all Linux machines (I use imps so I can have a wheel). Then I set the driver to reset to force resync on errors (psmouse.resetafter=1). After I switch to a machine, I issue a mouse button 1, that will cause the error if sync has been lost and force the reset. > Thanks > > Mark |
