thanks!, well at least smarts cache is cleared, now onto my other problem
as specified in my previous post (getting rid of smart) or did I already do
that by running rm -rf /var/lib/smart?

I just want to let you know I apreciate your time!, you've been a big help
thus far.

Thanks alot this really did work for 10.0 now I can watch videos of any
kind! cool! mainly I got this set up so I can watch previews for video
games. note: if any one else has Suse 10.0 the action described above works
to get kaffiene to run mutimedia videos (may this little discussion help
others in my shoes) however acording to my experience here it did not solve
the DVD movie reading problem. but one out of two is not bad!

and this will not work for 10.1!!!!! so don't try this if you have 10.1

for 10.1 users follow troels just's instructions on obtaining "SMART
package manager" and then follow the instructions carefully on that page
note it will help to have a high speed connection! I did not have high
speed and so It did not work, take that into consideration.

pretty much every thing 10.0 users need to know for geting kaffiene to play
video files is in this set of posts.

thank you troels just!

sincerely, cliff sheridan

For dvd playback you need to install libdvdcss here's a link ...
http://download.videolan.org/pub/lib...2.9-1.i386.rpm

Troels,

What I am missing here?. I have 10.1 which i installed in a clean sytem I
am using both Yast and Zen without problems. Yast works as well as in 10.0.
It also updates Zen when you add new sources. I have never use Smart. Of
course I do have packman as many as other repositories.
I installed SuSE from the box instead of opensuse, is that the difference?

Regards
