Several days ago my assistant called from the office to say she couldn't
download her email. We tried rebooting, reaching our email via webmail, and so today I went in to have a look. This is an older Athlon 1400 that was running suse 9.3 and using Kontact/Kmail/Korganizer - all the stuff that comes with KDEPIM. Whenever I checked email, a little box would pop up with Invalid Response from Server Kontact - Unable to complete LIST operation. And then it would do nothing. You couldn't even get it to check mail again unless you restarted Kontact. I could download the mail via Windows and Eudora from the same ISP (Telus) but couldn't get Kmail to do it from Suse 9.3. So I figured, what the heck, it's time to upgrade anyway and installed SuSe 10.1. After all the install was done I checked my email- SAME Problem! Then I did what I should have done from the beginning and deleted all the email from the server, and tried KMail again and it worked just fine. Obviously the problem was with one of the emails on the server that was malformed in such a way as to cause this problem. Anyone else see this behaviour before? -- Robert Smits, Ladysmith BC Email bob@rsmits.ca |
