I tried switching user in KDE, but was not allowed to login as root. I
don't remember setting this anywhere, and can't seem to find an 'Allow root logins' setting anywhere. I've looked in YAST and Configure Desktop (Personal Settings). -- Bob SuSE Linux 10.1, KDE 3.5.4 |

It's a BIG dont to log in a graphical environment as root. -- Vahis Sometimes I reply to top posters. Seldom. And usually just once. I usually only login as root in the graphical environment to perform tasks which I don't yet know how to do in a terminal. In this case, I want to set the mount point of an external USB drive to be shared so that my son can access it over a VPN. Bob -- Bob SuSE Linux 10.1, KDE 3.5.1 |

Start YaST, it'll ask for the root password. You can do what you want in YaST. -- Vahis Sometimes I reply to top posters. Seldom. And usually just once.
