It seems that it has stopped happening!
(actually I did an upgrade today of various things, fingers crossed!)

Can you remember what you updated? My Zen updater says I'm fine, but the problem persists.

No, sorry... there was a kernel update, alsa plus more KDE updates.
Konqueror reports KDE 3.5.4 rel 78.1
I gave up with Zen, too slow and too many problems. I am using smart now.

I hope you get it solved too.

Sounds like the recent patch level, that's what I'm up to as well. Where did you install the KDE update from, please?

BTW, the latest libzypp update fixed a lot of Zen issues, right now it is working fine and pretty fast.

It is set to the default suse kde updates site.

In 10.0 with the latest KDE I clicked on the loadspeaker icon in the system
tray and clicked "Hide Mixer Window". I have "On login: Restore previous
session" and indeed after logging off and on again the mixer window does
not appear anymore.
