Hello,
I recently upgraded to KDE 3.5.1. from the SUSE YaST repository (ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_10.0/yast-source) and am experiencing the following issue: When a window is maximized (regardless of which window decoration is selected), the title bar will shrink to the size of the largest button. I can find no options to change the maximize behavior of the window decor. Any thoughts? Thanks! -Matthew Hatch |

Thanks! Hi Matthew, What style and windecos are you using or does it happen with all decorations *and* styles? I cannot seem to reproduce that effect here with Thin keramik 3.2.1 Style + thinleramik Decos, and also cannot see any bugs on kde.org relating to this and the titlebar unless I was using the wrong criteria for the search. I cannot fin anything in the settings either but there again I am not sure if i am looking in the right place yet :-) Also have you checked to see if you have the latest KDE versions from the supplementary dir on the server? I am using the default SUSE theme/style. I have seen this behavior on Plastic and Smooth Blend, but others like Keramik don't seem to be affected. I should note that I have three machines with SUSE 10, all three upgraded to 3.5.1, all three using the same theme, and only two misbehave after this manner. The third behaves normally, but I don't know where to look to see what's different on that box opposed to the others. -Matthew |

Matthew, Does it happen for all users on the problem machine or just one? if you only have one user use Yast to create another one, that will give it a default KDE skeleton so probably the best to create a new one anyway, if it does not happen with the new user then you can compare the contents of the files in the /home/<user>/.kde/share/config/ maybe kdeglobals or such, but I am not 100% sure which could be affecting it to tell the truth. If it does it with the new user then it is probably something in the global settings ib: /opt/kde3/share/config/ Somewhere.. I have just found that there are newer versions of the KDE files in the apt repositories ( KDE 3.5.1 ver 40 most of them and th qt stuff ) now I cannot remember what version was on the ftp site in supp this morning but according to the time on some of these files they were updated this morning @ 9:05 UTC, don`t know if those are the ones you have????? Have just finished installing the 64bit ones on this machine here and they seem OK but it has only been 5 minutes, seem a bit zippier but could just be an illusion :-) HTH -- Mark Twixt hill and high water N. I didn't see anywhere in /opt/kde3/share/config that would affect this, however, I didn't go through it with a fine-toothed comb. Any other thoughts? -Matthew |

By right-clicking the title bar and selecting "Configure Window Behavior" --> "Moving" --> "Allow moving and resizing of maximized windows", the title bar looks normal. Maybe that should be enabled by default, as it is in KDE 3.4.2. It's just confusing to have stuff like this change during an upgrade. Anyway, problem solved, and happy I am. ![]() -Matthew |
