Default kmenu lost my games?

I tried to customize kmenu with the editor. I dragged games into
applications, but the first attempt, I accidentally ended up putting it
in applications/graphics/games. After I moved it, it stayed there even
though I saved it. So I closed and opened the editor, and noticed an
empty folder called games, and deleted it. When I moved games where I
wanted them again, they all disappeared - except the empty games folder
that re-appeared...

A couple questions:

1. Can I reset the kmenu back to its original settings?
2. Is there a way to add the games back in without resetting anything
(perhaps manually editing some xml file)?

Thank you,

Have you tried the menu-updating tool normally found in
Utilities>Desktop or you could from a commandline do:

kbuildsycoca --noincremental

And see if that rebuilds them.

This did not seem to work:

kbuildsycoca --noincremental

What menu updating tool is in Utilities>Desktop? I don't seem to have one.

Any other ideas from anyone?

It /should/ be there, try launching kappfinder from the commandline, it
may not be installed by default, just go to Yast and search for
kappfinder and install that should give you a the "Menu Updating tool"
menu entry it is the frontend for kappfinder.

Not saying that this will work but it scans for any menu entries that
are missing and replaces them for you.

You could also have a look in the hidden dir

/home/barkit/.kde/share/applnk

And hand add the entries there or even rename that dir /applnk-bak and
logout and back in again to see if KDE rebuilds a default one.

Thank you again. I don't have kappfinder, apparently, and when I
searched YaST for it, it wasn't there either. This directory:

/home/dad/.kde/share/applink

Is empty, so I deleted the entire .kde. It reset everything - except
the menu. My Gnome menu is OK - I never customized it. Should I blow
out my whole profile? Any other ideas?

Hope that is a typo, should be applnk no "i" ?

Well before blowing your account I would create a new test one and see
if the menus come up Ok in that one, maybe this could be more of a
global menu problem than a user one, the fact that the

.kde/share/applnk

dir is empty is a bit of a puzzler to me.

Try a new user and see what happens first.

I just found this dir:

/home/dad/.config/menus

I deleted the only file in there, called:

applications-kmenuedit.menu

That reset my kmenu.

Would my version of SuSE matter? I'm using 10.0.

So all is OK now Brandon?

Not so much the version of SuSE but the version of KDE, I will admit I
did not even think of that file though, I probably would have gotten
there but might have taken a bit of time :-)

'Kappfinder' used to be installed by default.

It is now in the 'kdebase3-extra'.
