Default Gstreamer & Amarok

I am trying to install Gstreamer so that I can play flac and mp3 files
through Amarok. I've installed all the relevant plugins (I think), but when
I run gst-register the following line appears amongst all the 'Added
plugin ..' lines

libvisual WARNING: no progname: visual_plugin_get_list(): Failed to add
the /usr/lib/libvisual/transform directory to the plugin registry

The line immediately following this one says

Added plugin libvisual with 16 features

but, in spite of this, the Gstreamer engine won't install in Amarok

I'm not sure what to try next. Would the full output of gst-register help?

Where did you get the GStreamer stuff from? I tried the RPMs from Pascal
Bleser's site and still Amarok cannot use GStreamer for MP3s. I'm back to
the Helix engine :-(

The gstreamer I have on my system (version 0.8.11.12) came from the
"supplementary GNOME 2.12 Update" at:

ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/x86_64...0/yast-source/

and it works in amaroK. There should be a corresponding i386 package in
there somewhere.
