Default ACT! equivalent

(subject ACT! equivalent)

I have a friend who has been desperate for this too, in fact it was one
main reason why they held into 'doze until recently(!)
However, push came to shove and I spent a (long, long) time getting
infomation out of act and into Kontact.
This took a lot of systematic spreadsheet work, with management of
column and copy paste etc, quite arduous indeed.
Kontact (suse 9.3) was also a bit limited in how many columns could be
imported (from csv file), moreover, the renaming of the Kontact
addressbook headings turned out to be not feasable either.
However, I found I could make use of the 'Notes' facility in Kontact,
and the search facility in Kontact is very easy and powerful.

Kontact also apparently integrates well into kmail, which we will
probably use.
I also need to somehow to use a wordprocessor with templates and
probabaly a simple macro with Kontact - I am told kword also integrates
(lately?) with Kontact, which might work.

I will be having a go at this when I go to suse 10 which will be in the
coming months or sooner.
Good luck, let me know what you find?
