K3b not able to burn DVD

Since I have moved from SuSE 9.3 to 10.0, the K3B burning process faults.
It is possible to burn CD's, but NOT DVD's. Even when trying to burn just 1
little file (300kb, with a short name) on a DVD, it fails.

When trying to burn a DVD , the error message given is:
:-( mkisofs has failed: 255
warning at exit (1)
Most likely mkisofs failed in some way.

I am using the Novell SuSE Linux 10.0. The mkisofs edition stated is:
/usr/bin/mkisofs version 2.1
udf, dvd-video, joliet-long, xa, sectype

no changes in settings that were made, have made any difference.
