Direct Digital Playback in KsCD

In SuSE 9.2 I had to enable Direct Digital Playback in KsCD to play audio
CDs. I now have SuSE 10.0 and audio CDs have no sound. System beeps etc are
audible. The KsCD shipped with 10.0 does not have the option to enable
direct digital playback. How do I do this? Thanks in advance.

I asked the same question last mont on
opensuse.org.suse-linux.support.general-applications. No answer there
either. It's a mystery why the feature disappeared but it's probably not
worth much time to investigate since xmms or kaffeine work.
