If you want to transfer settings to new installation, backup your home
directory /home/<user_name>.

For YaST Software Management look File Export. It will save your current
settings, for instance in your home directory that will be backed up
(saved) anyway.

Word "Desktop" entered on commad line will return this:
bash: desktop: command not found
no window, no number of desktops.
Have you ever used command line in any OS?
They all will return "command not found" if you type "Desktop".

What you will need is one long look in SUSE Help (installed by default).
