Default Newbie questions

I've recently installed Suse 9.3 and managed to configure eth1 in order to
download all the updates / patches. After updating my Suse, it doesn't
start the kde anymore but gives a default grey login screen. I can login
both as my username and root but the next screen displays a drop down menu
called "Twm" with "Iconify, Resize, ... Xterm, Kill, Delete,..." It seems
that the graphical interface KDE is gone? Or was it grub?

Thanks for the support.
