Just checked on my machine, which has 3 GHz (x2 through HT) and 3 GB
RAM,
and it takes 6 seconds so I guess it might be normal. On XP I
certainly
don't get Word up and running in just a second unless MS office is
preloaded, which it is by default IIRC.

In general I feel that almost everything is quicker in Linux than in
XP.
