What player are you using for the sound notifications?

I get no sound at all here if I use the KDE sound system, so I use
artsplay and use the normal volume control for it.

I am using the KDE sound system, I want to use it because of the
possibility
to decrease the volume. I must also say that I had to start with a
fresh
~/.kde directory to come to the status I described above.
