It is in the package telnet-server. Search in Yast (software...) for
this
name.

I invoked YaST2 sw_single and searched for "telnet", "telnetd" and
"telnet-server", but in vain. The only thing I found in
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.3/suse/i586/ was
telnet-debuginfo-1.1-44.i586.rpm I doubt this is what I need.
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.3/suse/src/ does not contain
telnet-server either, however
http://www.novell.com/products/linux...et-server.html

claims thet the package "telnet-server" is supposed to exist.

It does exist on the DVD in the suse dir:

DVD1/suse/i586/telnet-server-1.1-44.i586.rpm

It is not on the ftp server and might not even be available when the
distro is available for ftp install.

I installed it from the DVD, thank you for the hint. I thought the FTP

server was always more complete and more up to date than the CD.

No the ftp will only contain some but not all of the full paid for
distro, and even when they release the ftp for installation it will
not
contain "all" that you get.

The applications on the ftp site should nearly always mirror the sameversions as well so as not to cause inconstancies.

So you are not trying to install it from the 9.3 DVD or CD's but from
a ftp

have
experienced. This has been mentioned several times in this NG. I
suggest
you borrow the DVD of CD's from a friend or wait for the 9.3 ftp-site
to
become available. I suppose this will be somewhere in June.
