Did you try:

cat /etc/SuSE-release

which returns (on my box):

SuSE Linux 9.2 (i586)
VERSION = 9.2

I'm assuming you meant 'patch'. There are no all-inclusive patches for

the whole OS like in *some* OSes. :-) Go into YaST Control Center ->
Software -> Install and Remove Software and search for the package in

which you are interested and the version will be listed in the far
right pane (might have to scroll sideways).
