In your case, I'd probably add about four commas at the end of the init string. It's a solution to a different problem -- sorry. I was thinking it wasn't connecting but after re-reading your msg, it looks more like acommunication problem with the modem. It's been so long since I've had to troubleshoot a modem problem, I don't know where I'd start. Maybe install 'minicom' (or 'seyon' if you prefer GUI), a little terminal emulator that will help you test modem strings and such; that might give more info on what's actually happening . . . -- Kevin Nathan (Arizona, USA) Linux Potpourri and a.o.l.s.
