Directory used to mount camera wasn't removed. That doesn't mean that camera is all the time mounted. Second glitch with non existing, but mounted CD-ROM is probably result of the same event. My guess is that you can safely remove camera related directory, and it will be restored once you connect camera again. I've got once trouble with USB HD, that left directory with "umpteen" characters long name in /media. Removing it didn't changed anything in hotplug system ability to mount external HD. Actually, work is done in two stages, recognition that is done by hotplug, and mounting done with subfs, and second part crashes if it is not possible to mount the media.
