I have tried SUSE 9.1, Red Hat 9 and Mandrake 10. It may be this issue I had in Suse 9.0: ISSUE: Installing Suse from CDRW/DVD combo drive: "no installation software packages found". REASON: The installer can possibly be confused by the Combo Drive. SOLUTION: Add the hdX=ide-scsi parameter on the blue GRUB screen. (X is connection, eg. hdc=ide-scsi) THEN...the installer will report no media found" and will present thencurses/console based menu -- allowing manual loading of the SCSI emulation module: "ide-scsi". Select: "Kernel modules (hardware driver)" -> SCSI -> select the ide-scsi module. Press the *back* button, return to main menu and select: Installation/Boot -> Start Installation/Update -> CDROM -- Suse Linux 9.2 | KDE 3.3 |
