Default Timidity

I went into YaST and installed timidity so I could play .mid files.
Seems to work fine, but when I clicked on the menu all I get are little
squares. Looking at the technical data in yast, I see the URL is
http://www.timidity.jp so suspect the menus are in Japanese. I get a
404 going to that site.

I went to the OpenSUSE one-click site and there's 7 different versions
to install but no details. They all have the same major release version
(ex: timidity-2.13.2-100.15.i586.rpm) but the minor release numbers
change a bit. I could try an earlier version but there's nothing to
indicate whether that would give me the same trouble.

I'm all for community contributions and such, but isn't there any
quality control? I don't know if this is the right place to complain or
not. If not, where should I report this? And is there anything I can
do about it in the meantime?

Thanks...

....Kevin

Timidity comes with some documentation
at /usr/share/doc/packages/timidity/en. Also the composer program NoteEdit
comes with some very good information on how to set up Timidity. You can
find it in that program's Help menu under Handbook.

Thanks, I'll check those out. As I mentioned, timidity works but the
menus aren't readable. Not sure that I'll be able to change much if I
can't read it. But ya never know...
