Default keyboard misbehavior

I'm using Visual SlickEdit 12.0 on OpenSUSE 10.3 and I've noticed some
keyboard issues.

If I type very fast, the wrong data comes in.

For example, if I type

java

very quickly,

it comes in as

javv

Similarly, if I type "dele" very quickly, it comes in as "dell".

If I switch to another application, like console, the issue does not
happen. I've tried different keyboards, with and without KVM and the issue
persists. I installed SlickEdit on my laptop, and the problem shows up
there too.

I tried installing SlickEdit on Kubuntu 7.10 on a 3rd machine, and the
problem does not happen.

So, it looks like there's something strange in OpenSUSE 10.3, and the way
it interacts with Slick Edit. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi
Have a look at the keyboard repeat keys, delay and speed settings.

Not to be ignorant or anything, where would I find these settings?

Hi
Not sure what desktop your using.
Gnome, Control Center menu item --> keyboard.
KDE would be on Personal Settings menu item -> Peripherals -> keyboard

I found it in KDE. Disabling Keyboard repeat had no effect.

Maybe Sax has not selected the correct keyboard? Look at YaST (note
backup your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file).

Same keyboard with the ubuntu setup?

Have a look at the ubuntu /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and then compare
against the same file on the openSUSE install.

The vendor actually sorted this out. It has something to do with the XIM
module, and how their doing input. If I unset the XMODIFIERS environment
variable, the issue disappears.
