After the last round of online updates on my openSUSE 10.3 development
machine, Emacs had difficulties opening C source files. It displayed the error message Symbol's function definition is void: lazy-lock-mode in the minibuffer and didn't display the file until I switched to its buffer explicitly with C-x b (or by just opening it a second time). Turns out the update to emacs-22.1-40.4 replaced /etc/skel/.gnu-emacs with a new version, but my own ~/.gnu-emacs file was of course not updated and was therefore incompatible with the updated Emacs. Copying the new .gnu-emacs file from /etc/skel to my home directory fixed the problem.
