Hi everybody,
I recently installed 10.3 on my brandnew lenovo R60. It includes an ATI X1400 graphics card. I installed the original ATI driver fglrx, 3D option checked (working fine). But there is a little flaw which happens from time to time: In the lower right corner horizontal dots that start to get a line appears. After some minutes about 4 lines in total are sitting there about 2 cm (1 inch) in length. The same picture can appear also around the cursor (moving with it) but moving away from the current application (e.g. firefox) removes also the cursor shadow. A temporary solution is to switch to a terminal (ALT+F1) hit the Return key and switching back to X (the window seems to be redrawn). It seems to be a flaw in the ATI driver. Can anyone give me a hint what to do to get rid of that flaw? Klaus -- Linux User #54760 |

Klaus,
if the screen settings in Sax2 are correct, I'd play with different versions of the ATI driver. Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |

Yes, I've seen seen that in a Radeon mobile too, I reverted to an old version of the driver. Many of the ati drivers versions do not let google earth work either. It is just unbelievable that ATI cannot sort out their own drivers. On the other hand I have not experienced many bad drivers with nvidia cards. -G- |

Looking with top I can see a process xmode that cannot be killed (even with -9). It will come back, only reboot helps. I looked into xorg.conf and found two Device sections: Section "Device" Identifier "Device[0]" Driver "fbdev" VendorName "VESA" BoardName "Framebuffer Graphics" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "aticonfig-Device[0]" Driver "fglrx" EndSection I did a aticonfig --initial on the previous setup. Does this collide with the ATI driver? Thanks Klaus -- Linux User #54760 |

Klaus,
I'd start from scratch. Backup your working xorg.conf, then sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |

I wonder how I can get the side buttons to work with Firefox (previous/next page). Klaus -- Linux User #54760 |
