Adobe Reader and OpenOffice

Hi,

I have a CD which has a *.pdf file as an index. It links to other *.pdf,
*.doc, *.xls files etc. Adobe Reader is fine when you click on another
*.pdf link, however the others give me "Adobe Reader could not open
'*.xls" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file
has been damaged (for example, it was send as an email attachment and
wasn't correctly decoded)." Click OK and get "The application
"thewholepathtothe.xls" is set to be launched by this PDF file. The file
may contain programs, macros, or viruses... blah blah blah. I get the
option to "Do Not Open" or "Open". When I click "Open" nothing happens.

I have .doc and .xls associated with OpenOffice and the files open just
fine with OpenOffice. AdobeReader preferences "TrustManager" has a tick in
"Allow documents to open other files and launch other applications".

AdobeReader has been updated, uninstalled and downloaded from Adobe and
installed.

Any help would be much appreciated.
