Hello!
As an high school teacher, I need to use Texmacs for producing scientific texts. However, in SL10.2, when trying to start Texmacs, a message error appears saying that Texmacs is incompatible with Guile versions 1.8 and above. Is it possible that SuSE did pack packed together two interdependent but incompatible packages ? Can someone help solving this problem, please? With best regards, António |

The solution (the least) is to uninstall the SuSE 10.2 Texmacs package, download and install from tarball from Texmacs site www.texmacs.org. Everything went well, but when I start texmacs with as my own user, there is a message error of "Segmentation default"; it's possible to start texmacs from console logged as root, only. Can someone help on this problem ? Thanks in advance, António |

The soultion is to compile the package as that user that will use it, or to start debug permissions. It seems that some libraries can not be loaded which is not handled proprely by main progam and it crashes instead to exit. Starting program from console as normal user can give some messages that can point to the source of problem. -- Regards, Rajko. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal |

The message wasn't a crash and is similar to "TexMacs inconpatible with Guile version 1.8 and above.Any help should be appreciated"... Thank you, António |

I'll try to locate older Guile, and post that tomorrow. -- Regards, Rajko. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal |

It looks that old version of TeXmacs is delivered with new Guile. There is no version change from 10.1 to 10.2 and that should mean that package is not recompiled. I have to ask somebody on opensuse@opensuse.org mail list. -- Regards, Rajko. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal |

I should look in https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=228035 before. It is known problem and for now it seems that only installing older version of Guile can help. -- Regards, Rajko. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal |
