OH!! details are so important:
anyone notice in my earlier posting that "telnet nlzero.com" returned: Trying 209.166.88.53... Connected to nlzero.com. Escape character is '^]'. which is where it sat, uncontrollable!.. well, i just saw it and realized the escape character has never before been "^]" (instead it was always "^H") and, when i type "^]" i get: telnet> and nothing more (i can't from there issue an 'nlz' and get a user/pass challenge--what else might i try)...but, at least i can now give 'quit' and close gracefully ("Connection closed.").. any new ideas on what might be wrong?? (as apparently it may NOT be a TCP stack problem as Joanne and Matija thought--especially since nautilus is now running a RHEL 4 derivative!) and, how might that problem with telnet relate to not being able to NNTP in/out?? peace, DenverD |
