Default GD and german "umlaute"

Hello

I've written a program where I'm producing graphics for HTML-pages with
some text-strings, including legends with several german "umlaute"
(ä;ö;ü). GD-Version is GD 2.0.33.

I'm using the same text-strings for some HTML-output on the same page.
Now the problem is that for HTML I should use "ä" for (ä) and so
on... but GD doesn't convert the umlaute and prints them like "ä"...

When I set the umlaute to "ä", "ö", etc. GD prints them correctly in the
graphics but in the HTML-output I've of course "ä", "ö", etc., too.
And... that's not true HTML-coding.

I there a conversion function in GD to solve that problem or does someone
have an other idea???

Thank you very much!
Marcel
