Default Suse 10.1: Crash in libc/libm/inux-gate.so

It is very necessary for my work that a (Lahey-Fujitsu)
fortran compiler be available. In moving from Suse10.0
to Suse10.1, I find the following error (for example):
lf95 -c -O pltmain.f -o pltmain.o
f95: /usr/local/lf9561/bin/../bin/jwd_fort: SIGSEGV signal received.

jwd_fort is part of the 3rd party compiler.
ldd jwd_fort
==> linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0xb7f0e000)
libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb7dee000)
/lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7f5c000)

We also have /lib/libm.so.6 -> ./libm-2.4.so
/lib/libc.so.6 -> ./libc-2.4.so,
and libm-2.4.so are new compared to past distns.

This fortran compiler definitely works in Suse 9.1, and I believe
also with Suse 10.0 (which looks like I'll drop back to).

Any thoughts on what the problem might be (or how to use
libm and libc out of earlier distributions).

Thanks very much for any insights or thoughts on further
steps to resolve this problem.
