Default XGL on a HP nc8230 with SuSE 10.1

Hello all,

When I enable xgl on a HP nc8230 the following occurs:

- While loading X the machine returns 3 times back to the console before
it finally loads X
- All windows open in the top left corner, the blue title bar is gone (or
out of sight). You can't move a window...
- None of the shortcuts/features work/react.
- The machine is very very slow.

This is all with the default installed driver. The system has an Ati
Radeon Mobility X600. I also installed the Ati driver from there site, but
then I can't enable 3D Acceleration. It's greyed out.

I find it hard to believe that the system isn't fast enough for it, since
I got XGL working on several older models with 16mb ancient cards

Is it a Ati thing?

Regards,

Rico

Follow up,

I started working after 3 reboots, WITH the Ati drivers. Very weird...
