Default How to make Beagle index only my home directory?

I've been using Beagle, through Kerry, for a little while now, and something
that annoys me is that it indexes the entire system from / and downwards in
the hierarchy of folders. This annoys me because I can't simply pop open
Kerry and search for something with the category "Everything" because it
displays all the KDE and GNOME datafiles in /opt and so on.
So, how do I make sure that Beagle only indexes my home, and not the whole
system?

When you rightclick the Kerry applet and select Configure, Indexing: Is there anything listed?

Nope, the two white boxes are empty and "Index my home folder" is checked.

Is this an upgraded system?
Check
~/.beagle/config/indexing.xml
What does it read? It should only contain "TRUE", no other paths.
If there's no useful in formation there, I'd rename the entire .beagle directory and log off and on to let beagle recreate the index.

No, this is a fresh install, I like to start fresh when I upgrade, because I
tweak the system so much over the 6 - 8 months I use a version of SUSE that
it can cause problems with the Upgrade feature.

The indexing.xml doesn't contain any paths, and it does have the
"IndexHomeDir" variable set to "true".

I have already tried renaming the .beagle directory, it still indexes the
entire system, and it actually never only indexed my home directory, right
from the first time I started 10.1, it indexed the entire system.

That's weird.
In /etc/beagle, try editing the files starting with "crawl" and set the CRAWL_ENABLED="NO", then restart beagle.
