Hi all, I'm trying to get xgl running on my suse 10.0 dell laptop ... I know that xgl is for 10.1 but from what I'vr been reading it can be done ... I tried the korra live cd so I know my hardware works, I have a nvidia 4200 go video card. I've followed the directions from opensuse.org but to no avail. I'm using kde. I have everything installed and I have chaned my /opt/kde/share/config/kdm/kdmrc file to use Xgl as the x server but after re-starting x I get the no composite extension error. So I rebooted to make sure the xserver gets re-started still no joy. So I tried changing sysconfig display manager set to xgl and rebooted. I've tried multiple combinations of each file but always get the no composite error. The suse site says to set my display setting accordingly but I don't know what they mean by this so now I'm hitting all the support sites. Any Ideas ??????? -- In a world without walls or fences ... who needs Windows or Gates ?? --unknown-- Registered Linux User #403007 https://counter.li.org |

did you edit /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
and /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc ? I have replaced in both files Xorg with Xgl... E.M.Gardner wrote: > > Hi all, > > I'm trying to get xgl running on my suse 10.0 dell laptop ... I was editing /opt/kde3/share/ .... not /ect/opt .... I guess I need to read a little closer next time ... but the part that really got me was that I tried and read those instructions at least 10 times and still didn't catch my error ... other than that I can't wait till there is a config editor for kde .... I think only compiz right now. Though it certainly should work somewhat as a general X replacement. |
