problem to set permission to scanner...

hi

i have a hp 3300C scanner
suse 10 detect and it worked fine.....

don't know way but today the scanner don't work....
go to yast, deleted the scanner...
closed yast reboot computer...

start yast, scanner

suse detect the scannner without problem but have some problem to setting
it.....

yast warn me that it's impossible to give right permission to usb scanner:
the error message is:



don't know why yast to give me a error message......

any idea?

Oh I see :-)

Are there any pointers in /var/log/messages that might show a problem
with communication?

Or I wonder if there could be some stale config files hanging about.

Let me have a look round to see if I can find any info, bit hard with no
error messages though :-)

I have an HP3300C too. It worked fine with 10.0, then after some upgrades it
ceased to work. The problem was a dying power supply for the scanner. It
worked for a couple of minutes then died. Check the scanner light. If it is
off the power supply isn't working.
It may sound silly but I have had two power supplies (on different
equipment) go in the last six months.

no problem with powersupply, i connected to another computer under windows
and it work fine....

will try to check if it's a usb problem... will buy a pci usb card
