I've followed the SuSE10 trick(for the 9.3 client)
now it's ok loggin in (the client) but I still can't find my novfs working (for the tools like ncl_tray) and when I reboot, it always gives a "module load error" I'm using 2.6.13-smp #modinfo novfs filename: /lib/modules/2.6.13-15-smp/kernel/fs/novfs/novfs.ko license: GPL author: Novell Inc. description: Novell NetWare Client for Linux version: 1.0.0-1 vermagic: 2.6.13-15-xen PENTIUMIII REGPARM gcc-4.0 depends: srcversion: 61326C776F5BA6A9306E7C0 when I insert the module, it says "invalid format" it's the same when I remake the modules with ./m or ./mk_novfs is it the vermagic problem? it shows 2.6.13-15-xen (I'm using smp) the xen kernel exists in my system, but I've never used it any hint to solve this problem? |

Are your kernel source files correct? Sounds like you have the kernel source for the xen kernel installed and not the normal smp kernel therefore the module will not be compat with your running kernel. Wales, UK > Novell Support Forums SysOp I can only find one kernel source in /usr/src, with no smp or xen prefix and for sure, I uninstalled and reinstalled the kernel source from CD ![]() I think the problem was due to the misplaced module. I found the right (smp)module in /lib/modules/2.6.13-15.smp/extra and copied it to the /lib/modules/2.6.13-15.smp/kernel/fs/novfs/ (replacing the wrong(xen) module) I conclude that the novfs.ko(xen) was accidentally copied to the smp module folder, after I ran the m script I ran the mk_novfs script and after that I ran the m script(I didn't read the script and was almost frustrated that time) the m script copied novfs.ko from the $PWD to the /lib/modules/$VERSION/kernel/fs/novfs and unfortunately, the novfs.ko in $PWD was the xen-module-->the mk_novfs built all available kernel in my system, and xen was the last.Maybe that's why the novfs.ko left in the $PWD is the xen-module the m script copies "any kind of" module file named novfs.ko in $PWD to the /lib/modules/$VERSION/kernel/fs/novfs/ "it's the wrong module in the right place (for my system) "thx for the reply......this stuff is really cool never thought that a novell client in Linux would be this great |
