I can get Xine to play Quicktime movies (.MOV) fine on SUSE 10 but I can
not get Totem to play them. It says I don't have a Codec installed. I thought that Totem uses Xine thus what plays in Xine plays in Totem. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem? |

Just a shot in the dark, I use MPlayer myself. Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |

Yes it did have GStreamer on by default and nowhere could I find anything in documentation anywhere to get it to use Xine when I had GStreamer installed as well. However, adding Packman to YAST did the trick. Although I had libxine1-gnome-vfs.. when I reinstalled libxine1 it said it would remove another lib xine package. Apparently removing that package did the trick as Totem is now running on Xine yet Banshee is on GStreamer... just the way I wanted it. Man... multimedia on Linux NEEDS to be easier. I go through problems like this on every SUSE release! |

Yep, that was probably the crippled xine lib which comes with SuSE. > Man... multimedia on Linux NEEDS to be easier. I go through problems > like this on every SUSE release! Agreed, but that's mostly because of legal issues. Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |
