Default Keyboard & Mouse Freeze in Suse 9.3

I am trying to address an issue on a prototype box I am building. Using
Suse 9.3 ( fully patched) the mouse & keyboard are freezing & the onyway
to clear it is to hard boot the box. I have switched mice & keyboards
but still notice it periodically freezes up both. Doesn't matter what is
on the screen ( i.e. regardless of open apps or just a KDE screen )

Is there a ny log files I can look at or does anybody have any info on
this?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Is this a mouse and keyboard freeze or is the machine locking up
completely, sounds a bit deeper than that?

Have a look in the log files in /var/log/ ( messages, xorg, warn etc...)
also have a look in your /home/<username> dir for the hidden
file .xsession-errors and see if there is anything there.

There is an option in Yast>System>/etc/sysconfig Editor, for the SysRQ
key sequence which will allow you to gracefully shutdown a machine even
after some kernel crashes, it is in the System>Kernel section, if you
have the kernel source installed then there is documentation on the
different key sequences that can help.

Using this enables you to sync the disks and unmount them before you
reboot which will help prevent data loss and the disk scans during
start-up.
