Default Triple height menus in XEmacs

Hi,

I have this really annoying problem with XEmacs in SUSE 9.3 : all
menus are triple height, i.e. above each character is a blank space of
twice the line height. Some menus even don't fit on the screen. This
happens on 3 PC's, two of them with all the latest updates, one
(installed yesterday) still with no updates.
Interesting : on my laptop this does not occur, the 3 PC's have an
nVidia card (2 with nvidia driver, one still with nv), the laptop has
on-board Intel graphics.
Emacs has a normal menu height, as have all other apps.

Can anyone help me out ?

Thanks,
Joeri
