I am running Opensuse linux 9.3 on a compaq evo 400c laptop, which is
connected to a seperate docking platform containing a CD R/W drive and a floppy drive as well as an extra battery. Can I, and how do I safely eject (seperate) the laptop from the docking platform and it's associated drives safely in Linux (i.e, do I have to unmount them?) when the system is running? |

As long as there are no disks present in the cdrom and floppy then they will not be mounted, I would think you should be ok to just unplug, give it a go and see, I don`t think anything major will happen. -- Mark Twixt hill and high water N.
