GAIM 1.1.4 is installed from SUSe Pro 9.3. HOwever, the latest version is
1.5.0. YAST isn't showing any available updates to GAIM. When I manually downloaded an RPM, it said that libpspell-modules.so.1 and libpspell.so.4 are needed. Anyone know where I can find the rpms for this, or whether its not a good idea to update these libpspell modules? According to YAST, I already have libpspell.so.15 as part of ASpell. Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't so.15 a higher version than so.4? Any suggestions on the best route for updating GAIM to 1.5.0? |

I found the same thing with Yast not offering the update, and every time
I go to manually install any Gaim version later than 1.1.4 - 1.3.1, 1.4.0 or 1.5.0 - from an RPM it gets SSL Not Found errors when it runs, and I get nowhere and have to uninstall. The RPM I used I got from http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-...=Network/gaim/ I did not have any problem with a Libpspell dependency though, and I don't have anything like that installed. The above RPM doesn't use Libpspell at all. Hah! I just tried installing the above RPM with Yast instead of Red Carpet and it workes perfectly! There must be some installation stuff Yast does that RC doesn't. -- Andrew C Taubman Novell Support Forums Volunteer SysOp http://support.novell.com/forums (Sorry, support is not provided via e-mail) Opinions expressed above are not necessarily those of Novell Inc. |

Yup, Looks like it finally worked for me now too. I used the same rpm
package as you did but didn't get it going. I"m not sure what I did differently this time. There's got to be a better way of managing applications in the Linux world if we're going to encourage the world to take on Linux and dump the err umm... other OS. > I found the same thing with Yast not offering the update, and every time > I go to manually install any Gaim version later than 1.1.4 - 1.3.1, > 1.4.0 or 1.5.0 - from an RPM it gets SSL Not Found errors when it runs, > and I get nowhere and have to uninstall. > > The RPM I used I got from > http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-...=Network/gaim/ > > I did not have any problem with a Libpspell dependency though, and I > don't have anything like that installed. I'm using apt for SuSE. Works great, get updates very easily. http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ -- Bob James Pentar InfoSystems http://www.pentarinfosystems.com |
