The only issue I have seen all along with this and I have been doing it
since the beta's is when you reboot it hangs after dismount of swap if you
logged into novell with the client. If don't login it does not hang. wish I
knew why this was.

Hi
Is swap being used on the machine? Maybe with the network connection
down swap is stuck on the sync commands?

I know the 64 bit machine is not using the swap and does the same thing. It
has 4 gig in it. The 32 bit laptop generally does not swap. It has 1.5 gig.

Hi
If you look at the boot.swap it runs back to back sync commands. I
would guess that as the network connection is down at this point it may
be trying to sync with a remote mount that is gone?

Hi
I would look at using netstat -t to start with and then maybe lsof
(list open files).

If you startup your system and run the client login and then run
netstat to see the connections.

Then logout of your GUI (or however you disconnect the client),
open a CLI window (Atl+Ctrl+F1).

Login and run netstat again and ensure that the remote connections have
timed out (they will disappear from the list, it may take a few
minutes).

Then try shutting the system down and see if it hangs. Alt+Ctrl+F7 to
get back to the GUI login screen to shutdown.

Also the -t option is for tcp connections you may need to look at the
man page for netstat to see other options eg u=udp w=raw etc
