System crashed asks for password

But, I enter it in for the system restore. Both my name and pasword and
the root.. and it comes up an error. How does one get in to the system>

Not really an updates/patches related problem, so please ask in the install-configure-administration forum, and don't forget to mention the exact error you get, as well as possible errors showing up during boot. And tell us about the circumstances the system crashed.
