Hi,
now i found the time to update from 10.1 to 10.2 and encountered two problems: 1. When shutting down my ThinkPad X20 the machine doesn't turn off automatically (as it does using 10.1). It always shows that blue openSuSE screen. 2. The software update recommends an update of "speex" - but when trying to update it tells me the following error message: "Fehler bei Transaktion: Can't provide /suse/i586/speex-1.1.99.1-13.i586.rpm from dir:///home/pweber/SuSE10/10.2/" So in both cases: What's wrong? Cheers -Peter |

When I did the update I also had a similar problem, although on a desktop. After some digging (looking at the boot messages/log) I found out that since my machine was older than 2001 the system set ACPI to off and gave a notice to use the acpi=force boot option to turn it on. Since it was (presumably) using ACPI with 10.1 I typed acpi=force into the boot options line when I booted the next time. Turns out that this fixed the power off and a couple of other issues. So I added acpi=force to the bootloader configuration to make it permanent and now all is running smoothly. So, your mileage may vary, but it worked for me. HTH Matt |
