Please try adding an online installation source like
//ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source to the updater. Does it work now? Uwe -- Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. |

Maybe I'm not adding this correctly?
Open Zen-Updater Add //ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source to URI Add Name Software updater error Failed to add packages from '//ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source' ath'/ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source' is not valid ??? > Please try adding an online installation source like > //ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source > to the updater. Mysteriously I run the Updater again and the dhcp up installs :-)
I'm glad it installs but am very concerned that such a critical component as update/rpm management is so seriously flawed :-( > Maybe I'm not adding this correctly? > > Open Zen-Updater > Add //ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source to URI > Add Name > > Software updater error > Failed to add packages from > '//ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source' ath> '/ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source' is not > valid > > ??? > > > Please try adding an online installation source like > > //ftp.gwdg.de/linux/suse/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source > > to the updater. OK
In looking at the rug output I decide to try to change the source Suse added for me in Configure Updater from http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/pub/suse/update/10.1/ to the one you suggest. I right click the updater icon in the task bar and choose Configure. I highlight http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/pub/suse/update/10.1/ in the Services tab but can only add or delete, not edit, so I click the Catalog tab thinking maybe I can edit a source there. Non stop disk I/O begins. Nothing is displayed in the Catalog tab window. Non-stop disk I/O continues. 10 minutes later still nothing in the Catalog windows and non-stop disk I/O continues. I'm guessing by now this is not expected behavior.????? I'll wait awhile longer to see if maybe this is just the new updater building Catalogs or something. > 1 | Active | ZYPP | SUSE-Linux-10.1-DVD9-x86-x86_64-10.1-0-20060525-132744 > | > cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc&alias=SUSE-Linux-10.1-DVD9-x86-x86_64-10.1-0-20060525-132744 > 2 | Active | ZYPP | guru > | ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.1 > > 3 | Active | ZYPP | packman > | http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.1/ > > 4 | Active | ZYPP | SUSE-Linux-10.1-Updates > | http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/pub/suse/update/10.1/ > > > > On 05/30/2006 anglers@texs.com wrote: > > > Thanks Uwe but wonder why my last update attempt worked ? > > > > Yeah, me too :-) > > On a console, what is the output of > > rug sl > > ? > > > > Uwe > > > > -- > > Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp > > Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. > |

Well......
10 minutes later and still nothing has come up in the Zen Catalog window and still non-stop disk I/O. Perhaps Zen has Cataloged the internet and found my critical posts in this forum and is now attacking my HD trying to wear it out??? I get it, this is Suse's idea of an "April Fools Joke" :-) Well, haha, the joke is on me :-) What's next, will Zen attack my utility company account and have my electricity turned off? Seriously, is there any way to fix this **** Zen "monster?" > 1 | Active | ZYPP | SUSE-Linux-10.1-DVD9-x86-x86_64-10.1-0-20060525-132744 > | > cd:///?devices=/dev/hdc&alias=SUSE-Linux-10.1-DVD9-x86-x86_64-10.1-0-20060525-132744 > 2 | Active | ZYPP | guru > | ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-guru/rpm/10.1 > > 3 | Active | ZYPP | packman > | http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.1/ > > 4 | Active | ZYPP | SUSE-Linux-10.1-Updates > | http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/pub/suse/update/10.1/ > > > > On 05/30/2006 anglers@texs.com wrote: > > > Thanks Uwe but wonder why my last update attempt worked ? > > > > Yeah, me too :-) > > On a console, what is the output of > > rug sl > > ? > > > > Uwe > > > > -- > > Novell Support Connection Volunteer SysOp > > Please don't send me support related e-mail unless I ask you to do so. > |
