Hi All,
SUSE LINUX 10.0 (i586) OSS VERSION = 10.0 If you open Yast Control Center, then click installation source, then click "add" and select "HTTP" or "FTP" what do you put in the "Server Name" and "Directory On Server" fields? I'm sure it's some mirror server or something, but can find nothing to piont me in the right direction. Thanks, Joe |

For instance, here's a US mirror for OpenSuSE: http://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/d...rce/suse/i586/ so you would put mirrors.kernel.org in the server name field, then opensuse/distribution/SL-10.0-OSS/inst-source/suse/i586/ in the Directory on Server field. Now when you install packages you will install directly from the mirror, no CD swapping required. -- Justin Grote Novell Support Connection Sysop Network Architect JWG Networks |

Hi Again, Well it's actuly trying to connect now, I think I was adding the http to the server line which made it error out right away. But, still getting an error, here is what the dialog box looks like: ================================================== ================== Unable to create installation source from http://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/d...rce/suse/i586/ Detail: Error ( InstSrc:E_no_instscr_on_media) Try Again? Yes No ================================================== ================== > gunnerjoe@mac.com wrote: > > Hi All, > > > > SUSE LINUX 10.0 (i586) OSS > > VERSION = 10.0 > > > > If you open Yast Control Center, then click installation source, then click > > "add" and select "HTTP" or "FTP" what do you put in the "Server Name" and > > "Directory On Server" fields? It's not supported. Vathis's should work, although you may have to leave off the http:// part. -- Justin Grote Novell Support Connection Sysop Network Architect JWG Networks |

Now when I run "Online Update" in the Yast Control Panel that works fine. If you look at the link for the Updates you have http://suse.cs.utah.edu/suse/ then click edit it brings up the same kinda dialog box with Server Name suse.cs.utah.edu Server Directory suse/ Any Ideas Welcome! Thanks, Joe |

Now I'm back to the problem at hand. My system reports "no such command" for installation_sources -a I'm looking at the link: http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse...1/inst-source/ It starts with http://ftp.opensuse.org ( That seems wierd, http://ftp compared to this link: http://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/d...SS/inst-source) Anyway, So select "http" server type. Server Name ftp.opensuse.org Directory pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/inst-source/ This seems to work, OK, WOW that was easy, NOT. Thanks for all the help! Joe |

If so, subsequent efforts probably need you to select "Edit/Refresh" from the Installation Source panel. Graham |
