Default Problems with sources.list

I have just finished installing SuSE 10.0 and I am now facing several
problems, not the least of which is a screwed up apt process. I think
part of the problem is the sources.list file, which only points to 2
servers in Germany - I am in Eastern Canada and hauling all the updates
across the Atlantic is a bit severe, even with global communications.

Does anyone out in SuSE land have a sources.list file that points at
servers in eastern North America and includes more than the basic install
that comes on the DVD? I am looking for a few additions such as Gramps,
superKaramba and Sword, to name but a small few.

Thanks

Unless someone has mirrored the apt repositories on a server closer to
you I think you will have to depend on these:

http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/

However even from the UK the servers can be excruciatingly slow at times
so I don`t think it is a distance thing.

However here is my source list ( for 64bit but you will get the general
idea, I cannot get to my 32bit machines at the moment to post them ):

<<snip>>

# Repository created by: aptate (version 0.69.2)
# At: Fri Sep 2 13:18:20 MEST 2005
# More info about aptate at: http://apt4rpm.sourceforge.net

rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/10.0-x86_64 rpmkeys
security update kde-unstable suse-people suse-projects packman
suser-drcux suser-jengelh suser-scorot kraxel base extra kde mozilla
suser-gbv gnome java

rpm-src ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/10.0-x86_64 rpmkeys
security update kde-unstable suse-people suse-projects packman
suser-drcux suser-jengelh suser-scorot kraxel base extra kde mozilla
suser-gbv gnome java

# The following are the default SuSE sources, commented out.

# rpm ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/10.1-x86_64 rpmkeys
security base extra

# rpm-src ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/ SuSE/10.1-x86_64 rpmkeys
security base extra

<<pins>>

If you browse the ftp server you can see the actual dirs corresponding
to the different sources and just add them to the list, the 64bit
version does not have as many as the 32bit yet.
