Recently, my SUSEWatcher application has started to show a "Connection
Failed." warning whenever it tries to check for updates. When I look at the current messages for the application, there is something that reads: "During the last package installation, some changed configuration files were detected. Find the log files for the install process in /var/log/YaST2/. Check whether your configuration files are still up to date." I am not sure exactly what to look for in /var/log/YaST2. Can anyone give me some guidance in terms of what to look for and how to correct this error? Thanks. Bob Reed |

If they are customized than YaST will not touch them, but save copy with same name and suffix something like rpmsave. You can look in /var/log/YaST2/config_diff_yyyy_mm_dd.log where y, m and d are for year, month and day. It is listed which file is changed, difference and name that was used to store YaST version. However this should not be a reason for connection failure. Check update server that YOU is using. It could be busy. Look what happens if you switch to another one from the list. If problem persists try to copy server and path to Konqueror and browse directories that are used for your version of SUSE. If you can't find them in update directory than they moved files to discontinued. Look at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/discontinued/i386 HTH -- Regards, Rajko. |

Have you Recently upgraded your Kernel?
I've been running on Version 2.6.13-15, and when I try to upgrade to 2.6.13-15 I seem to lose all Ethernet connectivity is lost - no more DHCP. I have upgraded packages without any issues, but lately upgrading the kernel has toasted the ether... > Recently, my SUSEWatcher application has started to show a "Connection > Failed." warning whenever it tries to check for updates. mope. tcp/ip is tcp/ip - ( ports iz ports )... Was intersting to note that I have run SUSE 9.3 without any issues, then tried Ubuntu/Kunbutu / tried Mandriva ( couldn't install ) / ttired a few others and have always came back to SUSE. Loads & recognizes all my old hardware ( wife won't let me buy yet another computer ). ( have loaded Debian onto a SUN E250 and have gotten that to work... but for some odd reason When I have upgraded the Kernel, DHCP just says its backgrounding and waiting for an IP. I've downed & upped the eth0 but still, no luck. So, at the moment I'm saying on the old kernel, I may try again because I love trying.. > > I noticed today that the Suse update download sites were suddenly all http, > i.e. the ftp site I used to use was no longer availabe.
